EOS installs its 5,000th industrial 3D printer at KAM

EOS, a manufacturer specializing in industrial additive manufacturing technologies, has completed the installation of its 5,000th 3D printing system. This latest machine, an EOS M 400-4, was commissioned at Keselowski Advanced Manufacturing (KAM) in North Carolina. KAM, founded by former race car driver Brad Keselowski, expands its existing portfolio to a total of 18 EOS metal AM systems. The merger with the ADDMAN group of companies brings the total number of EOS machines in their network to 36.

“Our company was a start-up within a start-up industry. When EOS was founded with a clear vision from my father, there was no such thing as additive manufacturing. We can proudly call ourselves pioneers of additive manufacturing, but it is our continuous innovation and unwavering desire to ensure the success of our customers that has allowed us to reach this milestone. While 5,000 machines is impressive, we’ve only just left the starting blocks. The possibilities are endless and I am confident and excited about the further milestones we will undoubtedly achieve,” said Marie Langer, Managing Director of EOS.

EOS was founded in 1989 by Dr. Hans Langer and is considered one of the pioneers of additive manufacturing. The first machine, the STEREOS 400, was installed at BMW in Munich. With the current 5,000th installation, EOS is demonstrating the growing importance of additive manufacturing in various industries such as defense, aerospace, medicine and toolmaking.

“AM has become an integral part of many industries today – defense, aerospace, energy, tooling and medical, to name a few. We have long relied on EOS’ AM technology to manufacture many highly engineered and complex applications and are thrilled to be part of the EOS story,” stated Joe Calmese, CEO of ADDMAN.

“To this day, we remain true to Hans’ original vision. This focus ensures that we devote all of our energy to developing the best quality products and services for organizations like ADDMAN, rather than succumbing to deceptive market dynamics and misguided competitive pressures. For us, this has resulted in consistent business growth, and I am confident that we will reach the 10,000 installations much faster than the first 100,” said Glynn Fletcher, President of EOS North America.

Additive manufacturing is considered a key element of modern digital production. It combines data, machines and robotics to make manufacturing processes more efficient and sustainable. This technology enables the development of new sectors and strengthens existing industries. With its modular and scalable orientation, EOS technology remains a central component of industrial transformation.
