Exentis Group AG, which specializes in industrial 3D printing solutions, closed the 2024 financial year with sales growth of 27 percent. The Swiss company generated revenue of 23.6 million Swiss francs, an increase of 5 million compared to the previous year. Particularly striking is the increased share of recurring revenue – including from consumables and license fees – which now accounts for 14% of total revenue.
Exentis operates an additive manufacturing platform designed for series production in the pharmaceutical, energy technology and micro-manufacturing sectors. The company’s strategy is to grant licenses for the technology and simultaneously expand the sale of production systems and contract manufacturing services. In the fourth quarter of 2024, however, there were delays in several contract conclusions in Germany. Exentis cites political uncertainties resulting from the dissolution of the German government as the cause. As a result, planned revenue from licensing to SMEs could not be realized. These are now expected to be realized in 2025, with a volume of between CHF 10 and 12 million.
Despite these delays, the operating result increased significantly. EBITDA rose to CHF 4.3 million and reached a margin of 18 percent. Exentis attributes this to the consistent modularization of its production systems and selective project prioritization. Only projects with a clearly defined minimum turnover and long-term profitability potential are pursued.
Another focus was on expanding the patent portfolio. The number of active patent claims rose by 26% to 6,164, with an average term of 15 years. The company expects continued growth in 2025, particularly due to increased demand from Asia and North America. According to the company, several negotiations with customers regarding new system sales and license agreements are at an advanced stage.
