On October 10, 2024, machine manufacturer Reichenbacher Hamuel is hosting the ‘Expertentreff 4.0’ in Dörfles-Esbach, which focuses on current developments in additive manufacturing (AM). The event brings together leading experts to discuss and demonstrate the latest technologies and materials in 3D printing. In addition to several live demonstrations on dedicated AM equipment, the focus will be on presentations that offer deeper insights into specific industrial applications and future prospects.
A key topic will be the use of tool steel in 3D printing. Holger Stichel from KOBRA Formen will explain how 3D printing processes with steel (1.7131) are used in the concrete block industry, particularly in the 0 µm to 1,000 µm range. Stichel will also present a circular economy that makes it possible to produce new AM steel from 60% waste material, which is both ecologically and economically beneficial.
Dr. Stefan Schulze from the LEHVOSS Group will analyze the state of 3D printing with plastics, addressing the challenges in industrial production. He will show that 3D printing in industry is often still limited to prototyping and design, although the potential is far greater.
Another highlight will be the presentation by Manuel Tosché (MULTEC), who will examine the physical limits of FDM technology. He will emphasize the importance of large-format printers and the savings that can be made through quick tool changes and a wide range of nozzle variations.
Dr. Alexander Kawalla-Nam from Reichenbacher will talk about hybrid machines that combine additive and subtractive processes. These multi-process machines could play a central role in manufacturing in the future, as they can be flexibly adapted to different production requirements.
Finally, Dr. Karsten Heuser from Siemens Digital will shed light on the market integration of additive processes such as L-PBF and Large Size Pellet Extrusion. These technologies promise greater integration into existing production processes and show how AM is increasingly gaining a foothold as a mature technology in various industries.
The expert meeting will not only provide in-depth insights into the state of the art, but also valuable perspectives on future developments in the field of additive manufacturing.
