The FAME Symposium 2026 will focus on the question of how developments in additive manufacturing research can be transferred to industrial applications. The event will take place on May 20 and 21, 2026, at LUT University in Lappeenranta, Finland, and is designed as an open format for companies, research institutions, small and medium-sized enterprises, and students.
Under the theme “Industrializing Research in Additive Manufacturing,” the symposium addresses a key challenge facing the industry: many processes, materials, and process chains are developed in the laboratory but encounter hurdles when transitioning to everyday production. The program aims to address precisely this interface and combine practical reports with scientific contributions. According to the organizers, Finnish and international experts from industry and research are expected to attend.
The two-day program combines various formats. Keynotes, technical presentations, and industrial case studies are planned to provide insights into specific applications of additive manufacturing. Poster sessions and company booths complement the program and offer additional space for detailed questions and direct discussions with development teams and technology providers. Another focus will be on laboratory tours of LUT University’s AM facilities, where participants will gain insight into current research work and equipment.
A student design challenge is also intended to involve young talent more closely and show how young designers are using additive design possibilities. A networking dinner cruise on Lake Saimaa is planned for informal exchanges. Registration is now open, with early bird discounts and special rates for members of the FAME ecosystem. The symposium is positioned in the documentation as the leading AM event in Finland.
For players in the field of additive manufacturing, the FAME Symposium 2026 thus offers a compact platform to learn about the state of industrial AM applications, deepen contacts with research institutions, and explore potential for future projects.
