Farsoon HT601P-2: Large-format polymer PBF system for series production

With the HT601P-2, Farsoon is expanding its portfolio in the field of polymer-based laser sintering with a system that is clearly geared towards industrial series applications. The system is based on the existing Flight-HT601P platform and targets companies that want to manufacture large-format components or dense packs of smaller parts in a continuous, automated process.

At the heart of the system is a cubic build volume of 600 × 600 × 600 millimetres, which enables both the production of individual large-volume housings, air ducts or functional modules and multi-build jobs with many small-series parts. Two 100-watt CO₂ lasers share the build area and increase build speed so that, according to the manufacturer, up to around 12 kilograms of end-use parts per day can be produced from a full build with typical nesting. The goal is to reduce unit costs and overall cost per machine through high utilisation and reduced post-processing effort.

One focus is on homogeneity across the entire build volume. Digital galvanometer scanners with dynamic focus control are intended to ensure that spot size and energy density remain constant over the entire area. This is complemented by multi-zone temperature management that regulates the chamber within a range of around ±3 degrees Celsius. Optionally available infrared cameras document the process for quality assurance and parameter optimisation. The powder bed is filled using a top-loading/bottom-feeding concept designed to support dense and uniform layer formation.

For production operation, the HT601P-2 is designed with an interchangeable build cartridge that can cool down and be unpacked outside the machine. In parallel, the next job can already be prepared, reducing unproductive downtime. A central powder management system handles recycling, mixing and sieving of the powder for multiple systems and integrates into automated production lines, including automated cylinder transfer and defined part cooling.

With a maximum process temperature of up to 220 degrees Celsius, the platform addresses a broad range of materials from standard polyamides to engineering plastics such as PA6, PBT or TPU. This makes the system particularly suitable for applications in aerospace, the automotive industry and demanding consumer goods projects where reproducible mechanical properties and cost-effective series production using the polymer PBF process are required. Farsoon plans to present the HT601P-2 to a professional audience in live operation at Formnext 2025, among other events.
