Chinese manufacturer Farsoon presented its new FS191M metal 3D printer at this year’s Formnext. The compact device is aimed at users who want to realize their first projects or small series. The 3D printer offers a combination of productivity, cost-effectiveness and ease of use.
The FS191M builds on the FS121M, which was launched back in 2016, and offers almost four times the build volume with a cylinder measuring φ191 mm × 199 mm. A powerful 500 watt fiber laser ensures precise processing. For smaller research or validation projects, the printer can be configured with a platform of φ78 mm × 80 mm. The FS191M is currently available as part of an early adopter program.
Key features of the FS191M include an F-Theta lens for consistent laser output, an integrated filter system, cameras to monitor the build process and an optimized powder coating design for even material distribution. An advanced control system provides improved process control. The open material platform allows users to customize parameters, further increasing the printer’s versatility.
Users can optionally equip the FS191M with additional modules, including laser beam shaping for increased efficiency, melt pool monitoring, support structure reduction and a 3D structured light sensor system for precise Z-axis control. A high-temperature resistant build plate insert of up to 400°C further extends the range of applications.
