Fictiv is acquired by Misumi: Integration of digital supply chain and physical manufacturing

The US company Fictiv, which specializes in digital supply chain solutions for the manufacturing industry, is being acquired by the Japanese Misumi Group for around USD 350 million. The acquisition is being made entirely in cash and is subject to regulatory approvals. Upon completion of the transaction, Fictiv will operate as part of the Misumi Group and expand its portfolio of digital manufacturing processes.

Fictiv offers a cloud-based platform for sourcing customized mechanical components, driven by algorithms and AI-powered workflows. With access to a global network of certified manufacturing partners, complex components can be produced efficiently and scalably. According to the company, it has manufactured more than 35 million components since its foundation – both prototypes and series parts – for applications in aerospace, robotics and electromobility, among others.

“Fictiv and MISUMI share a joint vision to make access to world-class manufacturing & supply chain capabilities easier, more accessible, more intelligent, and democratized,” said Dave Evans, Co-Founder & CEO, Fictiv. “Giving more teams the tools to take their ideas from concept to reality will unlock innovation to fuel the advancements we want to see in the world.”

The acquisition by Misumi represents a strategic investment to combine digital manufacturing processes with existing physical infrastructure. Misumi supplies over 318,000 companies worldwide with mechanical components and is known for its high quality standards and efficient logistics processes. By combining both platforms, the aim is to enable an end-to-end supply chain – from design and component procurement to series production.

“This is an exciting moment for our company, but an even more important one for our customers, as this acquisition will enable us to turbocharge our mission to simplify sourcing,” said Nate Evans, Co-Founder & CXO, Fictiv. “Fictiv and MISUMI bring together digital and physical infrastructure to support a full bill-of-materials, and reduce the time, cost, and risk associated with building and scaling products.”

The acquisition is Misumi’s response to the increasing volatility of global supply chains and the growing need for flexible, digital manufacturing solutions. In future, Fictiv will act as a bridge between digital tools and physical production – an approach that has proven to be particularly effective in 3D printing.
