The 21st edition of rapid.tech 3D, a trade event with a clear focus on industrial applications of additive manufacturing, will take place in Erfurt from May 13 to 15, 2025. The trade fair brings together manufacturers, research institutions and users to discuss new technologies, material developments and economic applications of additive processes. With 71 exhibitors and over 90 specialist presentations, the event is one of the central platforms for exchange within the AM community in German-speaking countries.

Among other things, the congress will focus on thermal post-processing methods, hybrid process chains and developments in materials technology. The integration of 3D printing into existing production environments as well as questions of process reliability and quality assurance will be addressed in several specialist forums. The military use of AM technologies and applications in the energy and electronics sectors will also receive special attention in 2025. According to Michael Eichmann, Chairman of the Advisory Board and Manager at Stratasys, the congress program has been expanded to include thematically focused forums in order to reflect the increasing demand for industry-specific solutions.

A key feature of the trade fair is the closer integration of the exhibition and congress. Prof. Dr. Christian Seidel from Munich University of Applied Sciences emphasizes that lecture topics can be explored in greater depth directly at the exhibition stands. The “Technical Deep Dives” format enables a practical examination of technologies such as selective laser melting or support structure removal using dry ice blasting.

One highlight is the anniversary edition of the 3D Pioneers Challenge. Under the title “Pioneer of the Decade”, former finalists will compete with new projects. The event makes it clear that additive manufacturing provides impetus for innovation and technological development even in economically challenging times.
