Formnext 2024 kicked off yesterday in Frankfurt am Main, showcasing the latest developments in additive manufacturing with over 860 exhibitors from all over the world. Technologies and solutions for the entire process chain – from design and materials to quality assurance – will be presented on an area of more than 54,000 square meters. The trade fair attracted numerous visitors on the very first day and offered a platform for world premieres and pioneering concepts.
The trade fair underlines the importance of additive manufacturing, even in economically challenging times. The technology has established itself as a driver of innovation in numerous sectors, from automotive to medical technology. “With Formnext, we are creating a platform where companies can benefit from the opportunities offered by additive manufacturing – whether they want to get started with the technology or optimize complex production processes,” explained Sascha F. Wenzler, Vice President of Formnext.
The supporting program complements the exhibition with new formats and established highlights. The Formnext Awards recognize outstanding ideas and personalities in the industry in six categories, including sustainable business ideas and technological breakthroughs. Visitors can vote for the finalists online before the winners are announced on November 21.
Another highlight is the Service Provider Marketplace, which shows how companies without their own production capacities can benefit from additive manufacturing. Exhibits from the medical technology, dental and packaging industries will demonstrate practical applications.
Australia, this year’s partner country, presents a strong community and internationally successful companies. Other program items include the “BE-AM” symposium, a start-up area and events for beginners, including the “Discover3DPrinting” seminar.
Formnext also offers a digital supplement. Parts of the program will be streamed via LinkedIn and YouTube and will also be available after the trade fair. The event runs until November 22.
