The premiere of Formnext Chicago planned for April 2025 has been postponed indefinitely due to economic challenges and a scheduling conflict with the RAPID + TCT Detroit trade fair. Mesago Messe Frankfurt GmbH, organizer of the leading international trade fair for additive manufacturing, justified the decision with the current economic environment and geopolitical uncertainties, which are putting many companies under pressure.
“After careful consideration and intensive discussions with our key partners, we have jointly decided to postpone the start of Formnext Chicago, which was originally scheduled for April 8-10, 2025. This decision was not taken lightly. We are convinced that it is in the best interests of the industry and the companies involved,” explains Sascha Wenzler, Vice President at Mesago Messe Frankfurt GmbH.
The decision was made in consultation with AMT – The Association For Manufacturing Technology and other partners. The aim of the collaboration is to provide the best possible support for the additive manufacturing (AM) industry in the USA, which is currently in a phase of intensive transformation. The postponement is intended to avoid exhibitors and visitors having to choose between two important events, which would have meant organizational and financial challenges for many companies.
“Our shared goal and priority is to support the user and manufacturer community in a way that truly benefits their businesses, and we believe the postponement is the best way to accomplish that goal,” confirms Douglas Woods, President at AMT.
“We thank our partners and the entire community for their support and understanding and look forward to working together to shape the next steps for Formnext in the US,” adds Petra Haarburger, President at Mesago Messe Frankfurt GmbH.
In the future, Formnext Chicago will offer companies in the USA comprehensive access to additive manufacturing and thus demonstrate its potential for industrial applications. The partners are already working on a new strategic approach to ensure that the event, when it finally takes place, is optimally tailored to the needs of the industry.
