Francis Bitonti Launches 3D Printed Shoe & Accessories Line “Mutatio”

Francis Bitonti is known for his creations such as the 3D printed dress worn by Dita von Teese and the 3D printed molecule shoe collection. The designer has now teamed up with United Nude and 3D Systems for the release of the “Mutatio” shoe collection.

Each of the collection’s shoe features a uniquely generated design created by an algorithm developed by Bitonti. “It’s not so much about making something customizable. I wanted to think of a product as an algorithm,” the designer explains. The 3D printed heel is plated with gold and completed with a traditional crafted leather part for the top.

The same algorithms and software were also used to create an accessories collection to be manufactured by 3D Systems and released this autumn.
