Lost buttons on jackets, pants or shirts are an everyday problem. Finding suitable replacement buttons is often difficult – especially with older or individually designed items of clothing. The Button Generator on Bambu Lab’s Makerworld platform offers a practical solution to this problem. It enables users to create customized 3D models for buttons that can be printed directly using the FDM process.
The Button Generator allows users to precisely define the shape, size, number of holes and other properties of the button. Round, square, rectangular and oval shapes are supported, among others. Parameters such as diameter, thickness, hole pattern or rib width can be defined directly in the browser. The arrangement of the thread holes can also be selected individually – either diagonally or sideways. Once all the values have been entered, the tool automatically generates a print-ready 3MF file.
The generated model can be processed with any standard slicer, but is specially adapted to the Bambu Lab ecosystem. In Bambu Studio, users can clone the model with one click to print several identical buttons at the same time. A suitable print profile is also available, which contains optimized settings for the material and geometry of the button.
The Button Generator is aimed at both makers and users with little previous experience.
