Freemelt and Interspectral have launched a collaboration to combine Freemelt’s Electron Beam Powder Bed Fusion (E-PBF) with Interspectral’s advanced AM Explorer software. This partnership is designed to increase precision, scalability and efficiency in additive manufacturing, especially for applications that require high accuracy and reliability.
A central component of the cooperation is the development of AI-supported systems for anomaly detection and closed-loop monitoring. The partners use Freemelt’s backscatter image data to train AI models that detect anomalies in real time and enable adjustments to be made if necessary.
Isabelle Hachette, CEO of Interspectral, said: “This collaboration with Freemelt is an exciting opportunity to push the boundaries of what’s possible in additive manufacturing. By combining our expertise in real-time data visualization and anomaly detection with Freemelt’s cutting-edge E-PBF technology, we are set to deliver unprecedented levels of process control and reliability to the AM industry.”
In practice, these new solutions should offer users who rely on series production particular advantages, such as improved quality assurance and efficiency. To further test and adapt the technologies, Freemelt and Interspectral are planning pilot projects with selected users to ensure that the tools meet the requirements of modern production environments.
In the future, both companies plan to showcase their progress and results from the collaboration to provide insights into how these technologies can optimize additive manufacturing processes.
Daniel Gidlund, CEO of Freemelt, said: “Partnering with Interspectral aligns perfectly with our vision of advancing our E-PBF technology for industrial serial production within our key segments defense, energy, and medical technology. This integration will empower our customers with smarter, data-driven tools to ensure the highest quality standards, and we look forward to sharing more as our collaboration progresses.”
