Within the recent week, the first industrial E-PBF machine from Freemelt, the e-MELT®-iD, was successfully installed at Weaream S.R.L. in Brescia, Italy.
After developing their research model Freemelt ONE this is the next step from prototyping to serial production. The e-melt ID system features the same open architecture as the research model, but with the possibility of upscaling the process. With the open system architecture of Weaream as a partner specializing in additive manufacturing of special materials and the capability to develop and produce their powders, the goal is to overcome known challenges in AM of metals and establish new materials.
Among others, this includes refractory alloys such as tungsten, high-temperature strength titanium aluminide, copper and alloys, soft and hard magnetic materials for e-mobility, and in-situ heat treatment and microstructure tuning.
