The well-known manufacturer of kids toys was granted a patent for a device which can be used to 3D scan objects with your iPhone.
You can place a object on the device and turn it around using a crank handle. The iPhone sits in a holder on the device to get the best results. This 3D model can be used as an avatar, for games or even for replicating the object with 3D printing.
We have already seen devices that use the same mechanisms from ZMorph and Pixelio. So lets see how and if the patent will turn into a actual product.
