Horizon Microtechnologies opens product platform for horn antennas

Horizon Microtechnologies has introduced a new product platform specifically tailored to the manufacture of horn antennas. Companies can order standardized or customized horn antennas directly via the “Product Shop” website. The platform is based on a combination of precise additive manufacturing (AM) and specialized coating processes. These make it possible to produce RF components more efficiently and flexibly than with traditional manufacturing methods.

Horn antennas play a central role in many high-tech applications, such as telecommunications, satellite communications and radar technology. Horizon uses the advantages of micro AM technology to produce antennas that are particularly lightweight and customizable. According to the company, the antennas are up to six times lighter than conventionally manufactured models, making them ideal for weight-reduced applications such as drones or portable communication systems. Horizon also eliminates the typical additional costs of customization, as digital manufacturing offers flexibility without financial penalties.

Another advantage is the seamless integration of manufacturing technology into existing design and simulation processes. Customers can upload design files directly without the need for complex conversions. This speeds up the development process considerably, reducing the time to market.

Andreas Frölich, CEO of Horizon Microtechnologies, emphasises the significance of the Product Shop launch. “Our Product Shop marks an important milestone in Horizon’s journey. The maturity and scalability of our processes allow us to offer horn antennas that are lightweight and customisable at competitive cost and with superior lead time. Traditional manufacturing can sometimes struggle to deliver complex RF components efficiently, particularly when customisation is required. With micro-AM and our advanced coatings, we are changing the game. Using established manufacturing techniques, seemingly small modifications to an antenna could have a significant impact on manufacturabilty. Now, customisation no longer comes at a premium — it’s effectively part of the package. Customers can achieve designs that were previously impossible, with rapid production and a quote in their hands within 48 hours of inquiry.”

The new platform combines efficiency with precision and shows how additive manufacturing can revolutionize the production of complex components. With short lead times and flexible customization options, Horizon is setting new standards for RF components tailored to the demands of an increasingly connected world.
