HP and CoreTechnologie release new texture library for 3D printing software 4D_Additive

Hewlett Packard (HP) and software developer CoreTechnologie have announced a new collaboration that provides a specially developed HP texture library for the 3D printing software 4D_Additive. This extension enables users to enhance 3D-printed components not only functionally, but also visually and haptically. The new function is tailored to HP 3D printing technology and offers a versatile solution for the surface design of components.

By integrating HP textures into 4D_Additive, designers can add high-quality surface textures to their CAD models with just a few clicks. The textures are downloaded directly from the HP website and can be seamlessly imported into the software. The textures offer a wide selection of over 100 patterns that can be customized. The size, orientation and depth of the textures can be modified in the software according to the specific requirements of each project.

A key feature of the 4D_Additive software is the exact editing of CAD models, which means that the textures are projected precisely onto the selected surfaces. Compared to editing STL models, working with CAD files offers greater accuracy and flexibility when designing surfaces. This function is particularly attractive for the small series production of plastic parts in 3D printing, as it enables cost-effective and fast customization.

In addition to the aesthetic aspects, the new texture library also offers technical advantages, such as the ability to design surfaces with specific coefficients of friction. This opens up new fields of application for industries that rely on specific material properties.

The HP textures and the corresponding instructions are available free of charge on the HP website and can be easily integrated into the 4D_Additive texture module to realize innovative 3D printing projects.
