HP has unveiled its latest innovations in 3D printing at Formnext 2024 in Frankfurt. The developments include both polymer and metal 3D printing and demonstrate the company’s clear focus on cost-efficient, scalable and sustainable production solutions. With new materials, software tools and expanded partnerships, HP aims to further advance additive manufacturing and facilitate its use in various industries.
In the field of polymer 3D printing, HP has announced a new material: the halogen-free and flame-retardant HP 3D HR PA 12 FR. It consists of 50 percent recyclable components and is suitable for the economical production of components with smooth surfaces. This material is expected to be available in early 2025 and will be produced renewably, in line with HP’s sustainability goals.
HP is also introducing the HP 3D Build Optimizer, an automated tool that optimizes part layout, reduces manufacturing costs and ensures part quality. Initial customers are reporting savings in production costs and improved printer utilization. In collaboration with Autodesk, HP has also introduced an integrated solution that simplifies the workflow from design to manufacturing.
For metal 3D printing, HP is expanding the configuration options of its Metal Jet S100 platform. New partnerships, including with ArcelorMittal and Eaton, enable advances in material diversity, production quality and cost efficiency. At the same time, HP is opening another Metal Jet Adoption Center in Barcelona to help European customers adopt the technology.
A notable cooperation exists with Something Added. Together, the companies want to transform footwear production through additive manufacturing and enable a broader market launch. This collaboration exemplifies HP’s goal of pushing the boundaries of additive manufacturing.
The innovations and partnerships showcased demonstrate HP’s commitment to not only advancing the technology of additive manufacturing, but also making it more accessible and economical. Interested parties can experience the new technologies and applications directly at the HP stand at Formnext.
