The association Industrialized Additive Manufacturing Hub Hamburg (IAMHH e.V.), which is dedicated to the industrial establishment of additive manufacturing technologies, has appointed Dr Maximilian Heres as Managing Director with effect from spring 2025. The aim of the association, which was founded in November 2024, is to integrate additive manufacturing (AM) more closely into production processes ready for series production and to address socially relevant issues at the same time. Heres’ appointment is intended in particular to accelerate strategic development and promote networking within the AM community.
Dr. Heres has many years of international experience in research and industry. After studying physics in Germany, he completed his doctorate in “Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering” at the University of Tennessee. He then worked at Local Motors, Inc., where he led the development of an autonomous, 3D-printed shuttle vehicle. In his role as Managing Director of Loci Robotics and Heres 3D, he developed robotic large-format 3D printing systems and helped companies implement additive manufacturing technologies into existing production chains.
Dr. Heres said: “The management of the IAMHH e.V. association combines my experience with additive manufacturing, my entrepreneurship and my passion for the efficient and effective integration of industrial 3D printing into series production processes. I am very much looking forward to exchanging ideas with the local AM community and getting joint projects off the ground together.”
Prof. Dr. Ingomar Kelbassa, Chairman of the Board of the IAMHH e.V. association, Director of the Fraunhofer Research Institution for Additive Production Technologies IAPT and the Institute for Industrialization of Smart Materials ISM at TUHH, commented: “We are delighted to have gained a Managing Director who brings together different players and ideas for visionary collaborative projects with expertise and enthusiasm. With Dr. Heres as Managing Director, the IAMHH e.V. association continues to gather momentum.”
Dr. Heres will introduce himself to the public for the first time at the IAMHH e.V. AM Conference in Hamburg on 6 and 7 May 2025. The event is aimed at a specialist audience from science, industry and politics. Participation is possible after registration until April 22.
