Cambridge University holds more than 600 oracle bones with Chinese inscriptions dating back from 1339 to 1112 BCE.
Some of these oracle bones were 3D scanned and made available on Sketchfab, so with the use of 3D printing everybody on the world is able to hold a model of the 3000 year old artefact in their hand.
Charles Aylmer, Head of the Chinese Department at Cambridge University Library, said:
“To hold a 3D print of an oracle bone is a very special experience, as it provides the same sensory impression as that obtained by the people who created them over three thousand years ago, but without the risk of harm to the priceless originals.”
