A possible collaboration between Snapmaker and xTool is currently causing speculation in the 3D printing community. This has been triggered by photos that have emerged, which apparently show a previously unannounced 3D printer that combines the technical features of both manufacturers. The images are circulating on social networks and show a device with four material spools and a compact build space.
Snapmaker is known primarily for modular systems such as the Snapmaker Artisan, which enables laser engraving and CNC milling in addition to FFF 3D printing. xTool, on the other hand, primarily develops laser systems, most recently the multifunctional M1 Ultra, which combines laser, cutting blade and inkjet technology. Both manufacturers focus on user-friendly software solutions with integrated model management and are aimed at creative applications in the semi-professional sector.
According to a leak transmitted by machine translation from Chinese, the new device could have four independent print heads, a print volume of approximately 270 × 268 × 270 mm and speeds of up to 500 mm/s. Integration of the Klipper firmware and a slicer connection based on OrcaSlicer or Luban are also suspected. However, specific technical details or official confirmations have yet to be released.
The images shown indicate that the printer is already being tested in a laboratory setting. The positioning of the coils is reminiscent of concepts such as the Prusa XL with a multi-tool changing system.
It is unclear whether this is actually a market-ready product or just a prototype. Neither Snapmaker nor xTool have made any official statements to date.
