Leaked photo: Is an affordable Bambu Lab 3D printer with a larger build volume coming?

A blurry photo that was distributed via WeChat on June 4 and subsequently posted on X (formerly Twitter) is currently causing a stir in the 3D printing community. It apparently shows a previously unknown model from Bambu Lab. The Chinese manufacturer could be preparing a more cost-effective large-format system with this device – possibly as a slimmed-down alternative to the H2D.

At first glance, the pictured device has a Z-height of around 340 mm, which indicates a similar build volume to the H2D. However, the change to a single extruder is striking, which suggests a simpler technical implementation and lower costs. Further indications in the image point to design elements of the A1 series, including a yellow drive wheel on the extruder and a camera close to the tool for calibration.

If the leak is a genuine pre-production model, this would be a strategic move: Bambu Lab would be responding to the ongoing demand for high-volume but more affordable printers. The current H2D, with its dual extrusion, servo motors and heated build chamber, is aimed more at professional users. A reduced model could close the gap to a broader user group.

It is currently unclear if and when the printer shown in the leak will be officially released. Bambu Lab has not yet commented on the image.
