LithaGlass – Lithoz and Glassomer announce new Composite Slurry

Lithoz, a leader in lithography-based ceramic manufacturing, has announced the launch of its new material “LithaGlass powered by Glassomer” after intensive research and collaboration with German glass manufacturer Glassomer. Glassomer considers Lithoz’s powerful technology the only process that can refine and 3D print their material with high precision and complexity. This fused silica-based composite slurry represents a breakthrough achievement for both partners.

The latest achievement adds another innovative slurry to the Lithoz portfolio, following the successful launch of several new materials and two new technologies last year. The design freedom of 3D printing is combined with the attractive properties of high-performance quartz glass – such as mechanical stability, high thermal and chemical resistance, and low thermal expansion and resulting high thermal shock resistance.

LithaGlass is closer to ceramics than to standard glasses such as soda-lime glass and therefore also has the desirable material properties of quartz glass, including low thermal expansion and a high thermal shock resistance.

Dr. Johannes Homa, Lithoz CEO, was eager to share this latest release with these industries: “Glassomer’s choice of Lithoz’s LCM process as their key technology to achieve this innovation once again proves the sheer potential and flexibility of our system. The new LithaGlass material brings our company one step closer to our vision – finding solutions to every challenge of today with a 3D-printed ceramic answer.”

Dr. Frederik Kotz Helmer, CSO of Glassomer explains: “Our transparent high-purity glass solutions offer enormous potential for many applications, especially for high-stability optical and technical parts. With Lithoz we have a powerful partner to make our glasses available for high precision 3D-printing – which will significantly advance science and technology.”
