LuBan expands functions for 3D printing: More options for model customization

In recent years, the LuBan software has established itself as a practical tool for processing 3D models. Especially for printing large objects, the tool offers functions for automatically splitting models into printable segments. The latest version extends these options with a range of additional model editing functions.

One of the biggest challenges when 3D printing large objects is to divide the model into suitable individual parts. In doing so, connection points must be taken into account and the correct arrangement of the segments must be ensured. LuBan automates this process and also offers options for optimizing fits and connections.

In addition to breaking down large models, LuBan now offers a variety of other functions for adapting 3D designs. These include the ability to generate printable 3D objects from two-dimensional images. For example, users can create relief models, wireframe structures or interactive puzzle designs. The creation of lithophanes – translucent 3D images – is also possible with just a few clicks.

Another feature is the automatic generation of objects with moving parts. This means that joint models can be created from images without the need for complex CAD knowledge. LuBan can also convert 3D models into 2D sections to prepare them for laser cutting.

The software is subject to a fee and is offered as a subscription or as a one-off payment. A one-month license costs 25 US dollars, an annual license 125 US dollars, and a lifetime license costs 625 US dollars. A free 30-day trial version allows users to test the functions before purchasing.
