Materialise increases sales: Medical division drives growth in 3D printing business

3D printing specialist Materialise recorded significant growth in the third quarter of 2024. The listed company from Belgium increased its turnover by 14.2% to 68.7 million euros. The Medical division was particularly impressive with growth of 24.5 percent.

Managing Director Brigitte de Vet-Veithen emphasized the strong operating performance: “We were able to increase adjusted EBIT by 89 percent to 4.4 million euros and at the same time continued to invest in future growth.” Net profit amounted to EUR 3 million or EUR 0.05 per diluted share.

In the Medical segment, Materialise generated sales of EUR 30.2 million. The adjusted EBITDA margin rose to 32.8 percent. This development underlines the growing importance of 3D printing solutions in the medical sector.

The software division recorded moderate growth of 2.8% to EUR 11.1 million. The EBITDA margin improved to 17.8%. The manufacturing division increased its turnover by 9.1% to EUR 27.3 million, with the EBITDA margin falling to 2.6%.

The company’s gross margin improved to 57.2%. Expenditure on research, development, marketing and administration rose by 11.8% to EUR 35.9 million.

The financial situation remains stable: at the end of the quarter, Materialise had cash and cash equivalents of 116.2 million euros. Gross liabilities fell to 53 million euros, resulting in a net cash position of 63.1 million euros.
