FEHRMANN MaterialsX has developed MatGPT Classroom, a platform that offers universities with a focus on materials science free access to an AI-supported technology. The aim is to promote the transfer of scientific findings from academic research to industrial applications. In doing so, the company is addressing a key challenge: many scientific findings remain in specialist journals and are not put to practical use. MatGPT Classroom creates a bridge here by combining publicly accessible data with practice-oriented information that is not available in conventional academic databases.
Henning Fehrmann, CEO and Chairman of FEHRMANN MaterialsX, explains: “With MatGPT Classroom, universities can go beyond traditional research approaches. We provide them with tools to translate their discoveries into real-world applications, promote industrial value creation and create jobs. Our goal is to empower researchers to make a tangible difference.”
The platform is supported by partnerships with renowned institutions such as the University of California, Irvine, Ohio State University and the Advanced Casting Research Center. This collaboration enables a global exchange of knowledge where researchers and students can directly translate their work into industrial applications.
At a time when enormous sums are being invested in scientific research, the economic and social benefits of such findings often remain limited. MatGPT Classroom offers a solution by paving the way for the industrial application of material innovations, supporting both technological and economic progress.
