The market for metal-based additive manufacturing is gaining new momentum in Portugal. Spanish company Meltio, which specializes in wire-based laser metal deposition, has entered into a partnership with Portuguese technology provider PrimeOut. Going forward, PrimeOut will serve as Meltio’s official distributor in Portugal, offering both sales and technical support. Coordination will take place in collaboration with Sicnova, Meltio’s primary partner for the Iberian Peninsula.
Meltio’s technology is based on a wire-laser process that uses standard welding wire as feedstock. This choice of material offers several advantages, including lower operating costs, easier handling compared to powder-based systems, and increased safety in industrial environments. The solution is primarily aimed at users in the automotive, aerospace, energy, and defense sectors who seek to produce complex metal components cost-effectively and independently of global supply chains.
“We are proud to announce this partnership with Meltio, a global reference in wire-laser metal deposition technology. This collaboration marks a strategic milestone for both PrimeOut and the Portuguese industrial sector, allowing us to deliver innovative, accessible, and highly effective metal additive manufacturing solutions. We are fully committed to building a strong ecosystem around Meltio’s technology in Portugal, helping bring the national industry closer to the future of manufacturing,” said António Hussen, Marketing Manager at PrimeOut.
The partnership focuses on building a robust ecosystem in Portugal. PrimeOut plans to work closely with technology centers, machine tool companies, systems integrators, and research institutions to further advance the technology’s adoption.
“Sicnova is delighted to be able to work closely with PrimeOut to consolidate the presence of Meltio technology in Portugal. Our mission has always been to facilitate the implementation of advanced additive manufacturing solutions in industry, and this new agreement reinforces our commitment to innovation and development in the Iberian market. We have full confidence in PrimeOut’s expertise, and we are convinced that together we will succeed in accelerating the adoption of metal 3D printing in the country,” said Pablo Flores, Meltio Product Manager at Sicnova.
Francisco González, head of EMEA at Meltio, affirms about this new partnership in Portugal: “We are proud to announce our new partnership with PrimeOut Meltio3D we are very confident that the expertise of our new partner will be key assets to help Portuguese industrial companies in different sectors such as automotive, aerospace, defense, mining, oil & gas and many others tackle their challenges to manufacture reliable metal printed parts thanks to Meltio3D solutions. The growing need for autonomy from European companies is a hot topic that we want to address, and together with our partner, we will support the future of the metal additive manufacturing industry.”
This collaboration reflects Meltio’s response to the growing interest among European companies in autonomous manufacturing solutions. The initiative is part of a broader expansion strategy aimed at establishing wire-laser technology throughout Southern Europe.
