Spanish company Meltio has unveiled a new solution for metal 3D printing. According to the manufacturer, the Meltio Robot Cell is a turnkey system that enables the production of metal components using 3D printing in a safe environment.
The hardware consists of an industrial robot with an integrated Meltio 3D print head installed on a self-supporting platform with a laser safety cabin. According to Meltio, this allows control of the entire 3D printing process, including software slicing.
The Meltio Robot Cell is designed as a plug-and-play solution to provide customers with an out-of-the-box cell for 3D printing, according to sales manager Alejandro Nieto. It only requires power and gas connections. The standard robot used is a model from ABB.
According to the manufacturer, the Robot Cell is aimed at industrial customers in all sectors. It is designed to make the benefits of Meltio’s wire-based 3D printing process available for parts production. The closed-loop solution offers monitoring and safety features for autonomous operation. According to Meltio, the Meltio Robot Cell is available for under $300,000 and comes with short lead times of four to six weeks.
