Mimaki, a leading manufacturer of industrial inkjet printers, cutting plotters and 3D printers, will join Autodesk, Inc, a leading provider of design and engineering software, at several international 3D printing trade shows in May and June 2023. The goal is to demonstrate how 3D data from design, construction and entertainment industries can be brought to life through the use of Autodesk software and Mimaki’s full-color 3D printing technology.
Autodesk serves multiple industries, while Mimaki’s 3DUJ-553 and 3DUJ-2207 3D printers produce full-color models in more than 10 million colors. This year’s shows will feature use cases from media and entertainment, product design and manufacturing, and architecture, engineering and construction.
Nilian Studios (Canada) uses Autodesk Maya and 3ds Max in combination with Mimaki 3D printers to develop and showcase original characters for games and animation.
“I’m so excited to see our characters come to life! A full colour 3D print gives us a better vision of the merchandising possibilities of our product by bringing our digital assets into the real world,” comments Ali Chenari, Creative Director and Founder of Nilian Studios. “It will also help us showcase our characters to our clients, making it possible for us to send them actual models when it comes to pitching an idea.”
Stewart-Haas Racing, an American stock car racing team, uses Autodesk Fusion360 and Mimaki’s 3DUJ-553 to optimize the weight reduction and break strength of their Ford Mustang. As a result, the generatively designed brake pedal was reduced in weight by 32% and its breaking strength was increased by 50%.
A representative of Fukken commented: “In 2021, we invested in the Mimaki 3DUJ-553, satisfied with its ability to express small details, which had been difficult with the plaster-based full-colour 3D printer we had been using. On the 3DUJ-553, we can also cover small parts with clear ink to prevent them from breaking.”
Fukken Co, Ltd (Japan) uses Autodesk AEC Collection as its BIM/CIM software and Mimaki 3DUJ-553 full-color 3D printers for civil engineering design models to create digital solutions for the construction industry. A representative from Fukken highlights that the 3DUJ-553 is better at rendering small details and parts than previous plaster 3D printers.
Mimaki will present the Autodesk x Mimaki Full-Colour World at the following trade shows:
- Rapid Tech 3D (Erfurt, Germany) May 9-11.
- EDIX Tokyo (Tokyo, Japan) May 10 – 12.
- TCT 3SIXTY 2023 (Birmingham, England) June 6 – 8
- Next Generation 3D Printer Exhibition / Japan Manufacturing World (Tokyo, Japan) June 22 – 24
