MLA extends AML3D delivery to the US Navy

3D printing specialist AML3D announced that it has entered into a Manufacturing Licence Agreement (‘MLA’) with BlueForge Alliance (‘BFA’) that will allow the company to significantly expand its access to manufacturing parts for the US Navy.

Under the MLA, AML3D will receive technical support and data on parts used in US Navy submarines. This will allow the company to utilise its proprietary ARCEMY Wire-Arc Additive Manufacturing systems to manufacture, test and validate a wider range of components and parts. These large-format 3D printing systems are specifically designed to process metals on an industrial scale and are particularly well suited for applications in the military sector.

The MLA is an extension of the existing collaboration between AML3D and the US Navy. Previous projects include the sale of an ARCEMY® system to a Navy supplier and several contracts to develop submarine components, including an A$2.2 million contract to manufacture a replacement part. This agreement also allows AML3D to work with other US Navy suppliers to improve data sharing and technical support.

Sean Ebert, AML3D’s Chief Executive Officer said: “We are very pleased to see this Blue Forge Alliance Manufacturing License agreement signed, which creates opportunities for AML3D to print more parts for the US Navy.  We are looking forward to working with Blue Forge Alliance, the technical teams within the US Navy’s Submarine Industrial base and amongst the US Navy’s wider supplier network to access the technical knowledge and data needed to 3D-print, test and validate metal parts and components for US Navy submarines. AML3D’s US scale up strategy is designed to support the US Navy’s submarine industrial base by directly supplying the US Navy with advanced manufacturing technology, components and services. Importantly, this strategy also includes embedding ARCEMY systems and service contracts within the wider US Navy supply chain. Today’s MLA agreement creates many opportunities to develop and deepen relationship that have the potential to further accelerate our US scale up strategy.”

This agreement creates long-term opportunities for AML3D to scale production for the US Navy and forge further partnerships in the military sector.
