Modelify: New iOS app converts 2D images into 3D models with AI

With Modelify, a team of developers is launching a new app on the market that automatically converts 2D images into 3D models using artificial intelligence. The application is aimed at designers, artists and hobby users who want to take their first steps in 3D modeling without extensive prior knowledge. The app is available free of charge for iPhone and iPad. Users can unlock credits with in-app purchases to increase the range of functions.

At the heart of the app is the AI-supported conversion of images into geometry. Users upload any image and receive a 3D model within a few seconds. This can be viewed directly in an integrated viewer and exported if required. The .glb format is currently supported, others such as .obj or .fbx are to follow.

The application allows users to create their own model library, in which generated objects and source images can be managed. Access to publicly shared content from other users is also possible via a discover feed. The workflow is deliberately kept simple and requires neither CAD knowledge nor additional software.

Converting AI-generated or hand-drawn 2D graphics into 3D is a technical challenge. Modelify uses neural networks to recognize image content, reconstruct volume information and convert it into a 3D structure. The results achieved are particularly impressive with clear, high-contrast motifs.
