The French additive manufacturing specialist Multistation is expanding its offering for the foundry sector and taking over exclusive distribution of the 3D sand printing systems from the Chinese KANGSHUO Group (KS-JT) in France and North Africa. The Chinese manufacturer is regarded in the casting industry as an established supplier of binder jet systems that produce sand molds and cores for iron, aluminum and steel casting.
Kangshuo operates three large production centers in Shanxi, Chongqing and Jiangxi with a total of around 200,000 square meters of manufacturing space and serves industries such as aerospace, energy, rail, mechanical engineering and agriculture with an annual capacity of around 300,000 tons of cast parts. On this basis, the company has developed its binder jet technology for use in industrial foundries and validated it in its own plants.
At the core of the portfolio is the KSS1800B, a second-generation binder jet sand printer with a build volume of 1800 × 1000 × 700 millimeters. The machine uses a bidirectional recoating system to apply sand layers and relies on Siemens drive and control technology. According to the manufacturer, the system achieves significantly higher productivity than many established machines while maintaining moderate investment costs – a key factor for cost- and energy-intensive foundry operations.
“This partnership with Multistation marks one of our major steps in our European expansion. Multistation’ s expertise and deep understanding of the European market will help us support foundries seeking greater productivity and energy efficiency”, said Mr. Duan, President of Kangshuo Group, and Mr.Li, Head of Overseas Business of Kangshuo Group.
Yannick Loisance, President of Multistation SAS, added: “We’ve long observed the binder jet sand market and the frustration of foundries regarding cost and reliability. KS-JT combines industrial experience and technical mastery, offering a reliable and affordable alternative to this niche market.”
The cooperation is intended primarily to address foundries that want to partially or fully supplement their mold production with additive methods in order to realize complex core geometries more quickly and without tool-based processes.
In addition to distribution, Multistation will also handle installation, maintenance and after-sales service. President Yannick Loisance points to experience with foundry customers who are often confronted with high costs and reliability issues with existing systems. With KS-JT, the aim is to offer an industrially proven option that makes additive sand mold processes more widely usable in Europe and North Africa.
