The French additive manufacturing specialist Multistation has concluded an exclusive distribution agreement with the Chinese KANGSHUO Group. The cooperation covers binder jet 3D printing systems for sand printing and targets the markets in France and North Africa. With this move, both companies are responding to the growing demand from foundries for digitized, energy-efficient manufacturing processes.

Kangshuo was founded in 2010 and operates as an industrial group in the fields of iron, aluminum, and steel casting. According to the company, its production capacity amounts to around 300,000 tons per year. In addition to conventional foundry processes, the company has been developing large-format binder jet systems for 3D sand printing for several years, which are used in particular for producing complex molds and cores. This technology makes it possible to manufacture tooling directly from digital CAD data, thereby shortening development times.

“This partnership with Multistation marks one of our major steps in our European expansion. Multistation’ s expertise and deep understanding of the European market will help us support foundries seeking greater productivity and energy efficiency.” said Mr. Duan, President of Kangshuo Group, and Mr.Li, Head of Overseas Business of Kangshuo Group.

At the center of the agreement is a second-generation binder jet printer with a build volume of 1,800 × 1,000 × 700 millimeters. The system features a bidirectional sand recoater and uses control and drive technology from Siemens. Multistation notes that the systems are designed to meet industrial requirements for throughput and process stability, making them suitable for series production in foundries.

Yannick Loisance, President of Multistation SAS, added: “We’ve long observed the binder jet sand market and the frustration of foundries regarding cost and reliability. KS-JT combines industrial experience and technical mastery, offering a reliable and affordable alternative to this niche market.”

Under the agreement, Multistation will be responsible for sales, maintenance, and after-sales service. For users, this could simplify access to large-format 3D sand printing and further promote the use of additive processes in foundry technology.
