MyMiniFactory launches Premium Merchant Program as a license-based alternative model to Etsy

The 3D printing platform MyMiniFactory has introduced the “Premium Merchant Program”, a new offer for manufacturers who want to produce and distribute licensed designs in a legally compliant manner. The subscription model is aimed in particular at vendors who are looking for alternatives due to recent policy changes on platforms such as Etsy. For 25 US dollars a month, verified retailers receive access to exclusive functions and a legally secure infrastructure.

In contrast to open marketplaces, where unlicensed reprints often circulate, MyMiniFactory relies on a transparent licensing system. This should not only protect authors, but also enable manufacturers to produce legally and fairly remunerated. The platform charges a commission of 10 % – well below the industry average of up to 30 %. With over 150,000 files available, the platform provides a large selection of licensed designs, particularly from the tabletop and model making sector.

Participating retailers benefit from access to this design library, a verified store seal, worldwide visibility via a location map and involvement in the development of the next platform generation (“Version 2”). In future, it will be possible to offer physical products directly via the designers’ profiles – produced by premium retailers.

CEO Nebo Nikolic sees the program as an answer to structural problems in the industry: illegal reprints, a lack of licensing systems and inadequate remuneration. The aim is to create an infrastructure that reliably links the digital and physical value chain. Initial feedback from users emphasizes the fair conditions and the strengthening of the rights of creatives.

MyMiniFactory was founded in 2012 and now has over two million registered users. The new premium offer underlines the claim to be not only a marketplace, but also an infrastructure partner for decentralized manufacturing in 3D printing. Applications for the program are now open via the platform.
