The kAeMu network was founded in September 2024 with the aim of anchoring additive manufacturing more firmly in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The initiative is aimed in particular at companies in Bavaria that previously only had limited access to practical expertise in the field of industrial 3D printing. The project is organized by Rosenheim University of Applied Sciences. It is financially supported by the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+), the European Union and the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts.
Additive manufacturing processes – particularly in the field of metal and plastics – are considered to be very promising for applications in aviation, energy, medical technology and special machine construction. In addition to new design freedoms, AM technologies offer potential for reducing material consumption and production times. Nevertheless, there is a certain reluctance among many SMEs. In addition to uncertainty regarding investment costs, there are often deficits in specialist knowledge, particularly in the selection of suitable components, the evaluation of process chains or economic analysis.
The offer is primarily aimed at newcomers to AM technology. Participation is free of charge and all developed content and results are openly available to members. This open approach is intended to promote sustainable technology transfer.
