A new Blender add-on called Stich3R offers an impressive way to display GCODE visualizations in realistic quality. The tool was developed by Create Inc and aims to improve the process of print preparation and verification for 3D printers.
When creating a 3D print job in a slicer program, such as PrusaSlicer, a preview of the print is usually displayed. This preview is essential to detect possible errors.
Most slicers offer sliders and simulation options to analyze the print layer by layer. However, these are often slow and do not provide detailed results. Stich3R stands out due to its integration with the free 3D modeling program Blender. It processes GCODE data and converts it into a renderable 3D model that is displayed as a highly realistic video.
The add-on takes into account various parameters such as layer height and extrusion width, resulting in a particularly precise and realistic image of the printing process. Users can also select which print features such as fill structures, surfaces or overhangs should be highlighted in the simulation. Support for multi-material printing is also integrated so that sections with different colors are displayed correctly.
Blender, which is available free of charge as open source software, is already used by many 3D printing enthusiasts for modeling. With Stich3R, these users can enhance their workflows by creating detailed simulations to check their print jobs. The add-on has a one-time cost of 25 US dollars and is available via the Blender Market.
