America Makes, the national innovation institute for additive manufacturing, recently announced the new members of its Executive Committee. This committee, comprised of professionals from industry, academia, government and economic development organisations, plays a central role in the strategic direction of the Institute. The goal of America Makes is to accelerate the adoption of additive manufacturing and strengthen U.S. competitiveness in the global manufacturing sector.
The Executive Committee advises the Institute on key issues such as data management, intellectual property, technical development, member benefits and partnership strategies. In addition, there is a focus on additive manufacturing workforce development and supporting strategic growth initiatives. Committee members bring both practical experience and visionary approaches to the discussions and help shape the future direction of the industry.
The committee consists of three government representatives and eight elected members from non-profit organisations, academia and industry. The term of office of the elected members is two years. New additions to the committee include Sandra DeVincent Wolf, Executive Director of the Manufacturing Futures Institute at Carnegie Mellon University, and Jonaaron Jones, President of the Additive Manufacturing Division at Beehive Industries. Both bring extensive experience in the application and advancement of additive manufacturing technologies.
“I’m thrilled to welcome this dynamic group of newly elected Executive Committee members,” said America Makes Executive Director John Wilczynski. “Diversity has always been a cornerstone of our Executive Committees. This group brings representation from every corner of the additive manufacturing value chain and their unique insights and strategic guidance will be vital as we continue pushing the boundaries of our mission.”
The work of the new Executive Committee will be instrumental in shaping how additive manufacturing will evolve in the coming years. Particularly in sectors such as aerospace, healthcare and automotive, the potential for this technology to produce complex components efficiently and cost-effectively is huge.
