Donaldson BOFA unveiled a new operating platform called Pro OS on January 20, 2025, designed to increase the efficiency of fume extraction systems through advanced data connectivity. The platform, which is available in two extraction systems, integrates advanced features such as a high-resolution color touchscreen, system pressure and filter condition monitoring, and configurable alarms. Via an Ethernet interface (RJ45), Pro OS enables bi-directional data transfer, allowing centralized control of multiple systems.
The platform has been specially developed for applications in high-performance environments and supports processes such as laser processing, 3D printing and electronics production. As well as helping to reduce potentially harmful emissions, it also protects machines from dust, preventing unplanned downtime.
Comments Jon Beckett, General Manager of Donaldson BOFA: “Manufacturers are investing heavily in Industry 4.0 automation to boost productivity and reduce waste. Our Pro OS platform provides the connectivity and tools they need to optimize the value of fume extraction in this new era, notably for processes in high-output environments, such as laser coding.
With Pro OS, not only will operators benefit from critical monitoring and control innovations, they will also have the ability to view and manipulate system-wide data remotely and in real-time through our Pro OS Connect functionality. This places more power in their hands than ever before to drive extraction-focused productivity aligned to Industry 4.0 automation.”
The platform will initially be launched in two systems. The AD Oracle Pro OS Connect is designed for applications such as laser engraving, cutting and selective laser melting, while the AD 1000 Pro OS Connect is designed for intensive industrial applications. Both systems support bi-directional data transfer, enabling centralized control over connected manufacturing systems.
With Pro OS, Donaldson BOFA focuses on data-driven optimization of production processes.
Says Jon Beckett: “Our Pro OS innovation underlines Donaldson BOFA’s global market leadership in portable fume and dust extraction – and our unerring commitment to customer value. The platform has the potential to deliver data-led productivity gains across a wide range of industrial sectors, including food and beverage, PCB production, medical devices manufacture, gifts and merchandise…and much more besides.”
Further products with Pro OS support are expected to follow later this year.
