New solution for binder and material jetting simplifies additive manufacturing

Meteor Inkjet Ltd, a leading supplier of electronics for industrial inkjet printheads, and software company AMIS have announced a collaboration that provides an integrated solution for binder jetting and material jetting in additive manufacturing. With a new Digital Front End (DFE) from AMIS and Meteor’s robust data path solutions, printing system manufacturers will be able to make their processes more efficient. The aim is to address challenges in the integration of inkjet technology into production.

Clive Ayling, Meteor’s Managing Director comments, “The alliance of Meteor and AMIS connects the AM community with decades of combined experience in inkjet hardware and enterprise software whilst making the most of the synergy that comes from both Meteor and AMIS being a part of the Hybrid Software Group.  Together, we look forward to helping OEM print system builders harness the power of inkjet for Additive Manufacturing in a way that provides a meaningful reduction in system development cost, time and risk.”

Integrating inkjet technology into additive manufacturing presents numerous hurdles, including optimizing print quality, increasing throughput and system reliability. The new DFE solution from AMIS enables fast and accurate preparation of print jobs, including parts, batches and layers. Its API-based architecture facilitates integration with existing systems such as MIS/MES as well as CAD or simulation software. In combination with Meteor’s wide range of Datapath solutions for printheads from manufacturers such as Epson, Ricoh or FUJIFILM Dimatix, OEMs can accelerate processes and shorten development time.

AMIS CEO Nick de Roeck adds, “Although AMIS was established in 2023, we build upon decades of enterprise software experience gained by Hybrid Software.  After AMIS DFE’s successful beta launch in May, I am confident our solution provides unsurpassed nesting speed, density and quality, smooth workflow, and an intuitive interface.  With Meteor, we have a winning combination.”

Both companies will be presenting their solutions at the Formnext trade fair in Frankfurt from November 19 to 22. Interested parties can visit the Meteor Inkjet stand (12.0/C82) or the AMIS stand (12.0/B47) to find out more and arrange individual consultations.
