Nikon Corporation and Nikon Advanced Manufacturing, the global headquarters of the Advanced Manufacturing division in California, USA, have opened the Nikon AM Technology Center in Long Beach, California.
The Nikon AM Technology Center brings together a global team of specialists focused on driving the success of Nikon and its customers. It houses Nikon AM Synergy Inc, the reorganized former Morf3D Inc, which operates in a highly secure environment. In collaboration with the upcoming Nikon SLM Solutions Studios and Nikon R&D, the center will develop proprietary Nikon technologies such as Direct Energy Deposition (DED) solutions and next-generation engineering innovations and systems. Equipped with state-of-the-art metallurgy and metrology capabilities, the center supports Nikon Advanced Manufacturing’s business initiatives.
The center offers comprehensive Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) services, engineering and manufacturing solutions, as well as prototyping and production capabilities. These services are designed to meet the critical needs of customers in terms of acceptance, scaling and supply chain capacity. Core principles of the center are collaboration, partnership and flexibility, with production capabilities available both on-site and at customer locations, including contract manufacturers (CMs). Nikon is actively working to support and partner with CMs.
The center utilizes Nikon SLM Solutions AG’s most advanced large and ultra-large format laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF) tools and high-precision Nikon DED equipment capable of processing a wide range of innovative and widely used alloys. Nikon’s global resources at the Nikon AM Technology Center – Nikon AM Synergy, Nikon SLM Solutions and Nikon’s proprietary products – are key components of the Nikon Advanced Manufacturing business unit established in 2023.
Hamid Zarringhalam, CEO of Nikon Advanced Manufacturing, commented, “In under a year, we have made significant strides toward revolutionizing the manufacturing landscape. Our global organization’s concerted efforts, coupled with the trust and support of our partners and customers, enable us to harness our deep expertise and new acquisitions, with the values that Nikon is renowned for globally.”
