OrcaSlicer 2.2.0: New version fixes bugs and extends printer support

The open source slicer OrcaSlicer is available in version 2.2.0 and brings important improvements for 3D printer users. In particular, the software optimizes print quality and extends compatibility with various printer models.

A key new feature is support for multi-tool printers such as Tool Changer and IDEX systems. This allows users to use different extruders for different print areas of an object.

The update makes it possible to combine different nozzle diameters in one printing process. For example, a 0.4 mm and a 0.8 mm nozzle can be used simultaneously, whereby the line width is automatically adapted to the respective nozzle diameter. The software calculates the preheating times for the next extruder and supports measures to prevent filament sweating.

The developers have also optimized the adaptive pressure advance control (Pressure Advance). This now adapts dynamically to different flow rates and print accelerations. The system reduces printing artifacts such as blobs or gaps by controlling the nozzle pressure more precisely.

The update also contains numerous detailed improvements such as a revised fuzzy skin function for structured surfaces and optimizations in the display of G-code previews. The developers have also fixed several bugs in the generation of support structures and the handling of multiple printing plates.

Printer support has been significantly expanded. New profiles have been added for the Anycubic Kobra series, the Elegoo OrangeStorm Giga and various models from Creality, Geeetech and BLOCKS. For existing profiles such as AnkerMake, the settings for jerk and extruder have been adapted to the manufacturer’s specifications. There is a new function for owners of Bambulab printers. The P1S, X1 and X1C models now support air filtering. The software also enables printing with blocked filaments if the corresponding AMS check is deactivated.

The new version is now available for download. The developers recommend that all users update to benefit from the improvements.
