The Luxembourg-based 3D scanning specialist Artec 3D has announced a global partnership with the Canadian metrology software provider InnovMetric. The aim of the collaboration is to further bridge the gap between high-resolution 3D data acquisition and precise industrial analysis. This brings an end-to-end digital process into focus that is particularly relevant for users in the fields of reverse engineering, quality control, and additive manufacturing.
As a first step, the inspection software PolyWorks|Inspector will be integrated into the Artec ecosystem. The solution extends the analysis functions already available in Artec Studio with comprehensive tools for dimensional inspection. Users can directly compare captured scan data with CAD models, analyze geometric deviations, and evaluate tolerances in accordance with current ISO and ASME standards. For 3D printing applications, this is especially important when verifying function-critical components, such as precisely fitting metal or plastic parts.
“We are continuing to expand our offering in the growing markets of quality control and metrology, and our agreement with InnovMetric is another important step in this direction,” says Art Yukhin, CEO of Artec 3D. “We are very excited about the prospects of this collaboration, which will enable us to provide our customers worldwide with even more advanced tools.”
From a technical perspective, PolyWorks|Inspector is based on algorithms certified by PTB and offers extensive automation capabilities, for example through macros and repeatable inspection sequences. These approaches complement Artec’s fast handheld scanners, as recurring inspection tasks can be handled efficiently. For industrial 3D printing applications, this creates a workflow that covers both the capture of complex geometries and their standards-compliant evaluation.
“Our partnership with Artec 3D is another important step toward making advanced 3D metrology more accessible and more powerful for manufacturers worldwide. By seamlessly integrating PolyWorks into Artec 3D’s professional scanners, we provide a unified and robust solution that accelerates the path from measurement to actionable information. This optimized workflow is critical in helping our customers set new benchmarks for product quality and operational excellence,” explains Christian Vallières, Vice President of Sales and Distribution for the Americas and EMEA at InnovMetric.
The partnership shows that 3D scanning and metrology are increasingly establishing themselves as integral components of digital manufacturing processes, particularly where additive methods place high demands on dimensional accuracy and documentation.
