Additive manufacturing is increasingly finding its way into orthotic and prosthetic care, particularly for patient-specific medical aids. Against this backdrop, Create it REAL and Vitalitecs have announced a strategic partnership. The aim of the collaboration is to make digital production processes for orthoses, prostheses, and other medical aids more widely available in Mexico and to facilitate the use of 3D printing in clinics and workshops.
As part of the cooperation, Vitalitecs takes on a dual role. On the one hand, the company acts as a distribution partner for Create it REAL’s Embrace production solutions, which are designed, among other things, for custom seating aids, diabetic insoles, and corrective braces. At the same time, Vitalitecs offers the production of patient-specific components as a local service provider. This model is intended to enable orthotic and prosthetic businesses to introduce digital workflows either gradually or to outsource production entirely, without having to make high initial investments or build up specialized manufacturing expertise.
“Partnering with Vitalitecs allows us to reach the Mexican orthopedic market with technology that has proven performance and clinical relevance,” says Jacob Nissen, CEO of Create it REAL. “Vitalitecs has over a year of hands-on experience with Programmable Foam technology, understanding both the technical capabilities and the real-world clinical applications. Together, we can help professionals save time, reduce waste, increase patient capacity, and deliver high-quality, reproducible results.”
At the technological core of the solution is Create it REAL’s patented Programmable Foam technology. Unlike conventional foams, material properties such as density, elasticity, and recovery behavior can be controlled via software and produced reproducibly. According to the company, Vitalitecs has been using this technology in practice for more than a year, including for seating aids and diabetic insoles manufactured with dedicated 3D printing systems. The processes are certified and intended for clinical applications where consistent quality and patient safety play a central role.
“After more than a year working directly with Programmable Foam, we are confident in both its performance and its relevance for custom diabetic insoles and seating aids,” says Jose Juan de Leon, CEO of Vitalitecs. “We see strong interest from clinics and workshops that want to modernize production to increase quality and efficiency while maintaining craftsmanship. Our partnership with Create it REAL allows us to offer both production solutions and a local 3D print service, giving professionals the flexibility to adopt digital workflows at their own pace.”
The cooperation is intended to help establish 3D printing as a reliable tool in orthotics and prosthetics while simultaneously improving efficiency, material utilization, and quality of care.
