Polymaker Starts Selling PC-Max Filament

Polymaker is a young company with their headquarters based in Shanghai, China. The company sells different types of filament. Their latest filament is PC-Max, a filament that should withstand high mechanical forces.

Polymaker sells PC-Plus since a few months, that’s the weaker version of PC-Max. Both filaments consist of Polycarbonate. PC-Plus was popular but it was very difficult to print because it needs a very high extruder temperature. PC-Plus needs a temperature of 300 to 320 degree to be printable, that’s a lot compared to PLA. PLA needs only 180 to 210 degrees. Anyway, PC-Plus is very popular and when Polymaker announced PC-Plus they also unveiled that they will start selling PC-Max on someday.

PC-Max has an even higher mechanical stability as PC-Plus and most other printable plastics. But PC-Max is also easier to print than PC-Plus because it needs an extruder temperature of “only” 250 to 270 degree. After printing the filament can be reworked with different techniques. Drilling, milling, sanding and other techniques shouldn’t be any problem for PC-Plus. Another special feature of the new filament is the high heat resistance over 110C° and its resistance to chemicals and solvents.

Polymaker will start selling their filament is available since the middle of May 2016. The price per reel (750g) is between 39.99 and 46.99 Dollar. At the moment the filament is sold in black or white.

Polycarbonate has properties that make it very desirable for the 3D printing community as a whole, and PC-Max™ makes it even better for creative designers and engineers at every stage of the production process
