PostProcess Technologies has recently been granted its 50th patent for automated post-processing solutions in the field of additive manufacturing. Since its founding, the U.S.-based company has developed an integrated technology suite combining hardware, software, and chemical processes aimed at standardizing and automating post-processing workflows in industrial 3D printing environments. This milestone underscores the company’s long-term strategy to protect and differentiate its innovations.

The patented technologies address key post-processing challenges, particularly the removal of support structures and excess material in FDM and resin-based processes. Core systems include the BASE and DEMI series. The BASE line is designed for large-volume parts and incorporates the company’s proprietary Volumetric Velocity Dispersion (VVD) technology, while the DEMI series utilizes Submersed Vortex Cavitation (SVC) to gently remove resin and support material from intricate geometries. Both systems operate under coordinated software control, automatically regulating temperature, exposure time, and flow dynamics.

“Our 50th granted patent is more than just a number, it is a testament to the relentless drive of our team to continually innovate,” said Jeff Mize, CEO of PostProcess Technologies. “The ingenuity of our team, combined with invaluable input from our 500+ customers, continues to fuel game-changing solutions to the market. We’ve believed from the start in building full-stack offerings that integrate software, hardware, and chemistry, that are protected and differentiated, resulting in intelligent, reliable solutions for our customers.”

“PostProcess has taken an intentional, strategic approach to IP from day one,” said Frank Kozak, General Counsel at PostProcess. “These patent grants are an affirmation of advancements in the field of post-processing and a validation of our approach to innovation. We’ve been able to move quickly, maintain quality, and ensure that every patent aligns with our long-term vision to automate and scale post-printing.”

The company’s consistent patent strategy highlights its commitment to industrializing additive manufacturing beyond the print stage. By enabling a fully automated, end-to-end workflow, PostProcess aims to improve scalability and minimize manual labor. In an industry increasingly reliant on repeatable quality and process reliability, the company’s IP-backed solutions form a critical foundation for deployment in series production.
