Prima Additive showcases scalable metal 3D printing solutions at Formnext 2024

Italian metal 3D printing specialist Prima Additive is presenting its latest technologies for industrial applications at Formnext 2024 in Frankfurt. Under the motto “Scaling AM for Industrial Production”, the company will be presenting solutions in Hall 12.0, Stand E81, that are designed to take additive manufacturing to a new level by specifically targeting automated, high-volume production processes.

A central component of the presentation is the IANUS robotic cell, which can be configured for various laser applications and has been specially developed for the rapid coating of brake discs in the automotive sector. Using rapid coating technology, the IANUS cell can apply a two-layer metal coating to brake discs to reduce particulate emissions. This requirement will become mandatory under the Euro 7 standard from 2026. The fully automated cell is ready for use around the clock, creating a bridge between prototyping and series production.

Prima Additive will also be presenting the Print Genius 150 Double Wavelength, a unique system that combines both an infrared and a green laser on the same platform. This setup makes it possible to process materials such as copper and precious metals that are difficult to process with conventional lasers. By switching between the two laser sources within one system, the Print Genius 150 offers precise and high-quality results on different materials.

With these technologies, Prima Additive aims to make additive manufacturing usable for industrial high-volume production. The solutions are designed to be modular and flexible so that they can be easily integrated into existing production lines. The use of advanced Siemens technology, including the Sinumerik One CNC controller and the Insights Hub for comprehensive networking, enables efficient and seamless integration into automated production environments.

Interested visitors can experience the IANUS and Print Genius 150 systems at Formnext 2024 and learn how Prima Additive is shaping the future of industrial additive manufacturing.
