Printago and Filametrics: Unified platform for fleet management and filament management

Printago and Filametrics are jointly developing an integrated platform for automated 3D printing farms. The cloud-based system combines print job management with ongoing monitoring of the filaments used. The target group is operators of printing farms who run many FDM and similar systems in parallel and want to avoid bottlenecks in material and capacity utilization.

Until now, many companies have managed their printer fleets and material inventory with separate solutions. Job planning takes place in one software program, while filament stocks are tracked in Excel or simple inventory tools. This separation creates media breaks: operators must check before each job whether sufficient material is available on the right machine.

This is where the joint platform from Printago and Filametrics comes in. Filametrics collects real-time data such as spool weight, consumption rate, and compatible materials for each machine. This telemetry data is fed directly into Printago’s job logic. The software only schedules print jobs on machines that have sufficient suitable filament available.

If the fill level of a spool falls below a defined threshold, the system can automatically reschedule or pause jobs. This allows operators to avoid interrupted prints due to empty spools and reduce setup times. At the same time, historical data can be used to generate forecasts for material consumption, including suggestions for reorders.

Features such as AI-supported scheduling, predictive restocking, and a central overview of all machines are designed to appeal primarily to larger manufacturing environments. The platform is thus part of a trend that other manufacturers are also pursuing. Bambu Lab’s local farm manager software and Elegoo’s app-based Matrix solution also focus on fleet control and monitoring, but so far integrate material data to a lesser extent.

The joint solution from Printago and Filametrics will enter a closed beta phase in early 2026. Existing customers of both providers will then be able to seamlessly switch to the integrated version, while additional enterprise features for large manufacturers have been announced.
