PROTEOR expands its digital portfolio with the acquisition of Filament Innovations

PROTEOR has announced the acquisition of Filament Innovations, a company specializing in 3D printing solutions for the orthotics and prosthetics industry. With this strategic acquisition, PROTEOR expands its digital manufacturing offering and integrates scanning and correction software as well as additive manufacturing processes into its portfolio.

“By acquiring Filament Innovations, PROTEOR is able to offer the highest quality 3D printers in the industry while further elevating and streamlining the overall digital experience for our customers,” said Edouard Archambeaud, CEO of PROTEOR. “We are very excited to welcome Filament Innovations into the PROTEOR family.”

Filament Innovations is known for its expertise in extrusion and high-speed printing processes and offers a solution for the production of definitive prosthetic sockets with the ICARUS 3D printer.

In addition to printing technology, Filament Innovations is also a leader in the development of special printing materials. The company offers filaments made of PETG, TPU and CPX-KyronMAX, the latter of which has been specially optimized for the production of durable prosthetic sockets. In combination with the ICARUS printer, these components can be produced in less than two hours.

“We are committed to providing our customers with the most advanced 3D printing technologies available today – including the highest-quality filament available,” said Mike Gorski, CEO and founder of Filament Innovations. “The PROTEOR acquisition will enable our technologies and materials to reach more people in more places around the world. In this industry, I have learned a lot from our customers on how this process needs to be streamlined for widespread digital adoption. PROTEOR, especially with the ORTEN software, will soon allow us to connect all of our digital devices allowing for a streamlined digital workflow process, a critical process that is missing from the industry.”

The acquisition highlights the growing importance of 3D printing in medical manufacturing and underlines the potential of digital production processes for orthoses and prostheses.
