Digital manufacturing services provider Protolabs has announced the appointment of Daniel Cohn as Senior Director Global 3DP Operations. In this position, Cohn will be responsible for the global direction of additive manufacturing, which is increasingly established as a key technology in the industry. Cohn, who previously served as Managing Director of Protolabs Germany, assumes leadership of this division as part of a comprehensive restructuring of the company aimed at greater integration and optimization of global processes.
The organizational changes follow the acquisition of 3D Hubs in 2021, which opened up new digital manufacturing capabilities and technologies for Protolabs. Instead of regional approaches, the company is now pursuing a global structure to more efficiently manage manufacturing methods such as injection molding, CNC machining and 3D printing. This global focus is coordinated by Mike Kenison, Protolabs’ Chief Operations Officer, with each manufacturing process led by specialized executives.
“New product launches, a higher degree of standardization and a proactive view of the market – all these points are crucial when we look at the power of additive manufacturing,” explains Daniel Cohn, Senior Director Global 3DP Operations and Managing Director Germany at Protolabs. “I look forward to driving these focus areas forward in my new position at Protolabs – and at the same time being responsible for helping our customers to better realize their innovations and ideas through 3D printing. At the same time, I am honored to be able to shape the entire 3D printing business area for Protolabs – and in this way set the course for a successful future.”
Daniel Cohn brings extensive experience from the European 3D printing business to his new role. In his new responsibility, he will strategically align additive manufacturing at the locations in Germany, the USA and within the Protolabs network. His focus will be on the introduction of new products, greater standardization and the proactive further development of the market.
“3D printing has become a standard technology for many companies in recent years – and its importance as a key technology will continue to grow accordingly in the future,” explains Daniel Cohn. “In order to meet customer requirements and at the same time proactively shape the future of additive manufacturing, it is therefore crucial that we use our expertise and specialist knowledge to help our customers realize projects. At Protolabs, we want to provide our customers with the best possible global support to drive innovation.”
With the new structure, Protolabs is aiming to reduce the interfaces between global teams and pool expertise from different regions more effectively. The aim is to promote innovation and offer customers worldwide flexible and reliable manufacturing solutions.
Daniel Cohn is already looking forward to his new role as Senior Director Global 3DP Operations: “It goes without saying that being part of this comprehensive development is a great opportunity for me and one that I am happy to accept. It is also clear to me that there is a lot of work ahead of us – and I am already looking forward to shaping the future of additive manufacturing together with my team and making innovations and ideas a reality.”
