Prusa ends production of older MMU upgrades for MK3 printers

The popular MK3 or MK3S from Prusa is certainly still in use by some hobbyists – possibly even in conjunction with an MMU3 (Multi Material Unit). The company has now announced that the production of these MMU units and the upgrade kit for the MMU2 will gradually be discontinued. Initially, this will mainly affect older versions of the system. Prusa will only offer complete kits while stocks last.

Users who are still interested in the MMU system will only be able to purchase individual parts in future. According to the manufacturer, however, these parts will remain available. The MMU3 was launched on the market just over a year ago after a lengthy test phase. Since then, the unit has quickly made a name for itself as it allows the printing of multiple colors or materials with just one print head. This capability has brought many users considerable advantages when creating complex print objects.

By discontinuing older product generations, Prusa is following a clear life cycle: once newer solutions are well established, the company is gradually phasing out the production of older device variants. This not only saves costs, but also creates capacity for new developments.
